Divemaster Internship Programme
 Gain
all your PADI certifications inlcuding Open Water, Advanced, Rescue
and Divemaster, as well as a certificate in first aid and experience
operating a dive vessel and maintaining dive equipment
The Divemaster internship is a great way to get
yourself started in a career in Scuba diving.
Pacific Divers is a small but busy dive centre with
good staff and a friendly, family atmosphere. Rarotonga is a gorgeous
island with nice beaches, lagoon, super clear water for diving
and just enough people to make it interesting and engaging. There
are lots of cultural and sporting activities and at Pacific Divers
we encourage our staff to get out and make the island home.
No Experience necessary.
You do not need any diving experience prior to coming down. All
training is included as part of the internship, including your
first Open Water certification course.
We can start the programme at any time for any individual.
There are two schedules based on either a part time or full time
commitment. Full time is suitable for visitors to the Cook Islands
who are coming specifically for the internship programme. It runs
for 4 months, full time. That is a 6 day per week commitment.
The part time option is better suited to Cook Islands residents
who may be working at the same time. It involves a 30 hour per
week commitment, thats 6 hrs per day, 5 days a week.
 What
the internship includes is instruction and certification
costs for all dive courses up to PADI Divemaster, free use of
all Pacific Divers rental equipment for the duration of your internship,
free diving up to a total of 60 dives, training in first aid,
boat operations, marine safety and of course all the experience
you will gain from being part of a small, professional dive operation.
There is a fee of nz$400 to cover administration
and course material costs for the PADI courses.
The other costs to you for attending the programme
is your accommodation, personal expenses such as food, communications,
transport and entertainment and the Cook Islands Immigration fee
(nz$120).
 Accommodation
is currently offered to interns in a house Pacific Divers rents
specifically for interns. The cost for this is nz$150 per week
for your own room or nz$90 per week for a shared room. You need
to find the person to share with. This cost includes rent, power,
gas and local phone. Internet is $10 per week and has limited
usage due to local restrictions.
The house is located about 50m from the beach and
900m from Pacific Divers. There are several shops and places to
eat in the neighbourhood.
