Dive boat

In 2009 we built a new dive vessel to provide our clients with a truly high quality service, comparable to any similar sized operation anywhere in the world. What we have acheived is a comfortable, well designed and practical dive vessel for our sites and conditions.

Moerangi is an 8.4m aliminium vessel powered by a 200hp Mercury Optimax giving her great power and performance with very low emissions and economical running costs.

She has room for up to 12 divers with two tanks each. There are twin boarding ladders at the rear with hand rails and a full length shade and weather canopy.

While this vessel greatly increases the comfort and number of divers we can take, we still intend to keep groups small. Now we have the freedom to run multiple programmes on the same trip. For example, Open Water or Advanced dives along with a regular 2 dive excursion.

This is the only dive boat of her kind in the Cook Islands and is another example of how Pacific Divers sets the standard for diving in the Cook Islands.

Equipment

At Pacific Divers we pledge to give you the best diving experience possible, and that goes right down to the equipment we use.

All of our regulators are equipped with Nitrox compatible Personal Dive Computers, the Oceanic Veo 100nx. These simple to use computers monitor your dive profile so you're safe no matter where the Divemaster goes.

Having your own computer gives you the freedom to set your own depth and time limits, and gives the comfort and security of knowing your personal nitrogen loading, without having to rely on the divemaster's computer or dive tables.

The regulators we use are the tried and trusted Oceanic Alpha 8 sport, all equipped with pressure gauge, dive computer and swivel 180 octopus / alternate air source.

Why use the swivel 180 octo? We found that one of the common faults during alternate air source use in training is the use of the alternate air source upside down, causing diver frustration and sometimes panic. The Oceanic swivel 180 octo eliminates this with a hose that swivels to allow it to come from either side.

Our BCD's are the Oceanic OceanPro and ReefPro series. These BCDs are rental proven, with a padded back, wide velcro waist band with clip retainer, trim weight pouches on the tank band and an easy to use inflator mechanism. There are several D rings for attaching accessories and two large velcro sealed pockets. We have a full size range from XS to XL.

We provide all equipment if required and that includes masks, fins and wetsuits. Fins are Mares Avanti -Tre and Beuchat X-Voyager foot pocket fins. They have proven to be durable, very comfortable with a soft rubber foot pocket, and just the right hardness to give good power for scuba diving without causing fatigue. If you're a big guy, and need something a little stiffer, we have Technisub FP fins in size 12 - 13.

We have a selection of masks lead out by the Ocean Mako. This quality mask gives great vision and performance in a low volume design. We also have several TUSA models including the Liberator, Panageo, Mini-Kleio (for small faces) and Platina (copy). We are confident that we have a mask to fit any face.

Our wetsuits are New Zealand made Prodive 3mm shortie wetsuits in sizes mens S to 3XL and ladies 10 to 18. We have some size 1 and 2 wetsuits to fit small ladies and boys and have long johns to wear under our shorties should you require the extra layer.
